Kichipa Ends Contract With Laplace, Retires From Competitive Gaming
The end of an era

Team Laplace, a pro gaming team from Japan recently announced that they will be dissolving which means that the players under them have to find new homes. This means that Kichipa and MOV, both players for the team, have had to end their association with the team.

Following this, Kichipa released a statement where he confirmed that he would be leaving Team Laplace and will also be suspending his pro gamer activities with the aim of going into the regular workforce. He also noted that he will still stream, but in a casual capacity rather than as a member of any team. This might also mean that he would not be competing in tournaments or at least not on a regular basis.

In a statement released by Team Laplace, their founder, Takayoshi Todo, outlined some of the reasons they will be shutting down including an inability to achieve many of the results they were hoping to get. According to the statement, they would have loved to get a slot in Street Fighter League Japan, but were unable to and this also pushed them towards the exit.

MOV also released a statement where he said that he would leave the team, but is still likely to continue as a pro gamer for now. MOV is a legendary player who was at his peak during the era of Street Fighter 3rd Strike where he won a handful of tournaments and took 3rd place at Evo 2013 for Street Fighter x Tekken.

The team's last day of activities was on the 30th of April 2024, and they are officially gone now.
